Core Correctional Practices

What are Core Correctional Practices?

Core Correctional Practices (CCP) involve the Principles of Effective Intervention (Risk to identify who; Need to identify what; and Responsivity to identify how) to assist us in the design of programs and decision making when we are dealing with individuals involved in the criminal justice system.

There are eight (8) Core Correctional Practices that, if implemented correctly, can assist in the reduction of recidivism by teaching a person how to engage in long-term prosocial behavior. In addition, CCP help in creating consistency within correctional environments by bringing what is being taught in programming into everyday interactions. CCP bring security and predictability for all involved, which enhances safety by establishing boundaries and expectations.
