Prosocial Modeling

Modeling is an intervention technique and behavior modification strategy used in the criminal detention, probation and education fields. The purpose is to transform client behavior by demonstrating and reinforcing positive social behaviors such as cooperating, helping others, managing stress and problem solving.

Planned - modeling happens when a program facilitator is modeling a specific behavior, usually in a classroom setting.
Unplanned - modeling happens during day-to-day contacts in which a person is observed interacting with others and/or handling difficult situations.
