Intentionally draw out expressions of desire, ability, reason, need and/or commitment to change.
People normally proceed through change by resolving their own ambivalence or conflicting feelings about why they should and should not change.
People are more committed to what they hear themselves say.
If you attempt to coerce a supervisee, they are more likely to become dishonest.
Do not coerce the supervisee. Allow them to resolve their ambivalence with interactions that demonstrate the spirit of
motivational interviewing
