  • Supervisee: Sometimes when I wake up after using drugs all night, I feel bad.

  • Staff: In what ways do you feel bad?

  • Supervisee: I think my family would be happier if I stayed away from the Heartless Felons.

  • Staff: How do you think that would make things better?

Also consider responding to change talk by affirming the change talk, reflecting the change talk, and summarizing the change talk.
