-People do not always say exactly what they mean.
-It’s okay to guess at the meaning that a person is trying to communicate.
-It is a statement. Inflect voice down at the end. If you inflect up, it will sound like a question.
-Try to use two reflections for every question you ask. Questions can make a person feel defensive.
-May be used as a strategic response to resistant supervisees or when communication difficulties arise.
-Make the statement in a manner that demonstrates your adherence to MI Spirit.
