Reflection Example

-“Changing this behavior is important to you.”

-“You see a connection between this behavior and ending up back in prison.”

-“Your children are important to you, and you want to change this behavior to be there for them.”

-“You are worried that you cannot be successful, but you are committed to changing your life.”

-“You feel as though you are able to make this change by avoiding old friends.”

Consider combining a reflection with the use of an open-ended question, affirmation, or summarization.
