Open-Ended Question Examples

-“If you decide to change, how would you do it?”

-“What is an example of…?”

-“What are the pros and cons of this behavior?”

-“How has this behavior interfered with your life?”

-“What is the worst thing that could happen if you don’t change?”

-“What is the best thing that could happen if you do change?”

-“What might you say to a friend who was in your situation?”

-“If you were going to make a change, how would you do it?”

-“What do you think you will do at this point?”

-“What else?”

Consider combining an open-ended question with the use of an Affirmation, Reflection, and or Summarize.
